NASDAQ has announced that it will launch a cryptocurrency trading platform until the end of the year.
According to the report published by Postbank Germany on May 29th, 29% of Germans are interested in cryptocurrencies as a form of investment. This is the result of a survey conducted by Postbank between the end of February and the end of March 2018.
When asked about why they are interested in cryptocurrencies, 60% of women and 51% of men invoked "independence from established financial systems" as an important factor.
The possibility of high returns, on the other hand, especially attracts men: 56% against 36% of women.
For every third potential cryptocurrency investor, anonymity is also important.
In terms of age, cryptocurrencies are particularly popular among people being 18-34 years old. In this age group, about 46% are interested in cryptocurrency investment.
6% of Germans with the age between 18 and 34 years old have already invested and another 14% are planning to do it over the next twelve months.
Dr. Thomas Mangel, Head of Postbank's Digital Department, has said in a press release that the sharp price decline during the recent months has had no impact on the cryptocurrencies popularity.
